HISENSE
Full Review

Kitchens live and die by the cooker in them, and the Hisense HDE3211BWUK sits at an interesting crossing point in the market: it's priced like an entry-level appliance but built with the capacity of something considerably more expensive. Two full cavities, a four-zone ceramic hob, and a finish that looks more "boutique kitchen showroom" than "budget replacement" — on paper, this is a cooker punching above its price bracket. The real question for anyone weighing it up is whether that generous spec sheet translates into an appliance that actually cooks well, day after day, roast after roast. Having pulled apart what this cooker offers and how people who've lived with it day-to-day describe the experience, the picture that emerges is refreshingly consistent: this is a cooker built for households that entertain, batch-cook, or simply got tired of playing Tetris with a single oven cavity.

Design and Build Quality

The white finish here isn't just a colour option — it changes how the cooker reads in a kitchen. Paired with long, chunky handles across both oven doors, the overall look leans closer to a range-style cooker than a typical budget freestanding unit, which is a deliberate design choice that pays off if your kitchen has a farmhouse or country aesthetic rather than a stark, minimalist one.

Structurally, it's a substantial unit. At roughly 48.6kg and standing 90cm tall by 60cm wide and deep, it's built to the standard UK "slot-in" footprint, meaning it will drop into the space left by most existing 60cm freestanding cookers without requiring you to rework your kitchen units. The legs are height-adjustable, which matters more than it sounds — uneven kitchen flooring is common, and a cooker that can't be levelled will have hob liquids pooling to one side. Worth flagging early: some owners have found the adjustment range on the feet a little limited when there's a noticeable gap to bridge, so it's sensible to check your existing worktop clearance before installation day rather than assuming it'll be a perfect drop-in.

Both oven doors are double-glazed, which does two jobs at once — it keeps the door glass cooler to the touch (a real safety benefit if you've got kids or pets circulating in the kitchen), and it helps the oven hold its temperature more consistently by reducing heat loss through the glass. Controls sit along the front fascia rather than on top, which keeps them within easy reach and away from hot pan handles, though it does mean they're positioned where spills and splashes are more likely — something the easy-clean surface treatment is clearly designed to offset.

Core Performance: What the Double Oven Actually Delivers

This is where the Hisense earns its keep. Rather than the common "one big oven, one token half-size oven" arrangement seen on many budget double cookers, this unit gives you two genuinely usable cavities.

The Main Fan Oven

The primary cavity is a fan oven with a generous 68-litre usable capacity spread across three shelves. In practical terms, that's enough room to run a full roast dinner — turkey crown, trays of vegetables, and a tray of stuffing or Yorkshire puddings — simultaneously, without shelves crowding each other or airflow getting blocked. Fan assistance means hot air is actively circulated rather than just rising from the base, which translates to noticeably more even browning across all three shelves. This is the single biggest practical upgrade over older conventional-only ovens: you don't need to rotate trays halfway through cooking, and you can genuinely cook on all three levels at once without one shelf coming out underdone. Owners consistently report that baking — cakes in particular — comes out evenly risen and evenly coloured, which is a good real-world proxy for airflow quality.

The Second Oven and Grill

The smaller cavity holds 31 litres and runs as a conventional (non-fan) oven with a single shelf, doubling as a full-width electric grill. This is a smart use of space rather than a wasted afterthought — it's ideal for smaller jobs that don't warrant firing up the big oven: grilled cheese on toast, a couple of chops, crisping the top of a shepherd's pie, or finishing off a dish that needs colour rather than more cooking time. Because it's a conventional rather than fan cavity, heat comes predominantly from top and bottom elements rather than circulated air, which actually suits grilling better — fan ovens can sometimes cool grill elements down and slow browning. The trade-off is that this second oven isn't the one to reach for if you want fan-assisted even baking; think of it as the "quick jobs and grilling" oven, not a second full oven for parallel roasting.

One consistent theme across owner feedback is that the grill runs on the gentler side compared with dedicated standalone grills — fine for finishing dishes and everyday grilling, but if you're used to a high-powered gas grill that chars in under a minute, expect this one to take a little longer to get food properly browned.

The Ceramic Hob in Everyday Use

Four cooking zones — three smaller rings and one larger zone — sit under a flat ceramic surface rather than exposed coils or gas burners. Ceramic hobs work by heating the glass surface directly beneath the pan, which gives more precise, even heat distribution than old-style solid ring hobs, and because there's no gap between rings and no visible flame, spills wipe away in seconds rather than needing you to disassemble pan supports.

The trade-off buyers coming from gas need to understand upfront: ceramic hobs heat up and, more importantly, cool down more slowly than a gas flame. If you're used to instantly killing the heat under a pan by turning a gas dial, ceramic requires you to plan slightly ahead — residual heat in the glass continues cooking food for a short period after you turn the dial down. This isn't a flaw specific to this cooker; it's inherent to ceramic technology, and it's the single most repeated observation from people who've switched to this model from a gas hob. Once you adjust your habits — decreasing heat a little earlier, using the residual warmth to your advantage for gentle simmering — it becomes second nature within a week or two.

The larger zone is worth planning your cookware around. It's sized for stockpots, griddle pans, and large frying pans, giving you a genuine "big pan" option that a lot of budget four-ring hobs skip in favour of four identically-sized zones.

Key Features That Matter Day to Day

Beyond the headline oven and hob specs, several smaller features shape how pleasant this cooker is to actually live with:

  • LED timer and digital clock — gives you a clear, glanceable readout of cooking progress rather than guessing or relying on a separate kitchen timer.
  • Automatic switch-off — you can set the oven to turn itself off once your programmed cooking time elapses, which is genuinely useful for slow-cooked dishes or if you're prone to getting distracted mid-cook. It's a small feature that quietly prevents burnt dinners and reduces the temptation to hover by the kitchen.
  • Defrost function — one of six total cooking functions, useful for taking the edge off frozen meat or bread without switching on full heat.
  • Interior lighting in both cavities — lets you check on food without opening the door and losing heat, which matters more in the fan oven where heat loss slows cooking momentum.
  • Left-hinged main oven, bottom-hinged second oven — worth noting for anyone with tight kitchen clearances on one side, since hinge position affects how much swing-room the door needs.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Both cavities use an easy-clean enamel lining designed to absorb and loosen splashes and grease during cooking, so a wipe-down after use lifts residue more easily than it would from bare enamel. This isn't the same as a full self-cleaning pyrolytic system (which burns off residue at very high temperatures), so it won't eliminate manual cleaning entirely — but it meaningfully reduces the scrubbing required for typical roasting and baking use.

Both inner glass door panels are removable, which is the detail that actually makes a difference in practice. Grease and condensation build up between the outer and inner glass layers over time on any double-glazed oven door, and being able to lift the inner pane out for a proper clean (rather than trying to reach in with a cloth) is the difference between a door that looks permanently smeared and one that stays genuinely clear. A small number of owners have noted that removal involves undoing the panel's retaining screws rather than a tool-free clip mechanism, so it's a five-minute job rather than an instant one — fine for an occasional deep clean, less convenient if you were hoping to do it weekly.

One recurring minor gripe worth flagging: the trim strip running along the front of the cooker, just beneath the control knobs, tends to catch small food particles and can be fiddly to keep completely clean. It's a cosmetic annoyance rather than a functional one, but if spotless control panels matter to you, it's worth knowing about upfront.

Installation: What You Need to Know Before You Buy

This is a hardwired appliance, not a plug-in one. It must be connected by a qualified, registered electrician, and — importantly — it cannot simply be wired into a standard 13-amp socket; it needs a dedicated electrical connection appropriate for its power draw. No mains cable is included in the box, so factor that into your installation costs and timeline if you don't already have a qualified electrician arranged, or don't already have suitable existing cooker wiring in place from a previous appliance. This is standard for this class of double oven electric cooker, not a quirk specific to this model, but it's an easy detail to overlook if you're used to appliances you can simply plug in yourself.

Energy Efficiency and Running Costs

Efficiency is rated per cavity rather than as a single blanket figure: the main fan oven carries an A energy efficiency rating, while the smaller second cavity is rated A+, the more efficient of the two ratings bands. In practice, this means your everyday larger cooking jobs run on a solidly efficient cavity, while quick jobs in the smaller oven cost even less to run. For a household doing a mix of full roasts and quick weekday meals, that split is well matched to actual usage patterns — you're not paying premium running costs for small jobs.

Who This Cooker Is Built For

This cooker makes the most sense for:

  • Families and hosts who cook in volume — three-shelf fan cooking genuinely accommodates big, multi-dish meals without shuffling trays.
  • Bakers — the even heat distribution from the fan main oven is a meaningful step up over conventional-only ovens for cakes, biscuits, and bread.
  • Anyone upgrading from an older single-oven or tired freestanding cooker — the jump to a proper second cavity changes how you plan meals, particularly around Sunday roasts and entertaining.
  • Style-conscious buyers on a modest budget — the range-cooker-inspired look is a genuine upgrade over the plain, boxy aesthetic typical at this price point.

It's a weaker fit for:

  • Gas hob loyalists who want instant heat response — ceramic's slower heat-up and cool-down will feel like a downgrade until you adjust your cooking habits.
  • Anyone needing two full-size ovens for simultaneous large-batch cooking — the second cavity, at 31 litres and one shelf, is built for smaller jobs and grilling, not a second roast dinner.
  • Renters or anyone without easy access to a qualified electrician — the hardwiring requirement adds cost and lead time that a plug-in cooker wouldn't.

How It Stacks Up Against the Alternatives

Consideration This Hisense Double Oven Typical Single-Cavity Electric Cooker Gas Hob / Electric Oven Combo
Total usable oven capacity High — 68L + 31L across two cavities Lower — one cavity, often 60-70L total Varies, usually one cavity
Simultaneous multi-dish cooking Strong — 3 shelves plus second cavity Limited to one oven's shelf count Limited to one oven
Hob heat responsiveness Moderate — ceramic lag on heat-up/down N/A (electric-only models often ceramic too) Fast — instant flame control
Cleaning effort Reduced by enamel liners + removable glass Varies by model Varies, hob grates need separate cleaning
Installation Hardwired, electrician required Hardwired, electrician required Mixed — gas safe engineer plus electrician
Running cost profile A / A+ split rating, efficient for mixed use Depends on rating Gas typically cheaper per unit, but efficiency varies

The clearest competitive edge this cooker holds is capacity-per-pound: getting two genuinely usable cavities, a four-zone hob, and enamel liners in both ovens at this price point is not universal in the freestanding cooker market, where many rivals either shrink the second oven down to a token grill compartment or charge a meaningful premium for the same two-cavity layout.

Strengths and Weaknesses, Honestly

The strongest case for this cooker is capacity paired with everyday usability. The main oven doesn't just look big on a spec sheet — three shelves of even, fan-circulated heat is a genuine step change for anyone who has been fighting a single, cramped cavity, and the feedback from real households cooking roasts, cakes, and batch meals in it backs that up consistently. The build quality and finish also outperform what the price tag might suggest, particularly in white, where the long handles and clean fascia give it a more premium look than most cookers in this bracket.

The weaknesses are narrower but worth being clear-eyed about. The grill runs gentler than a dedicated high-heat grill, so anyone chasing rapid, aggressive browning may find themselves waiting longer than expected. The ceramic hob asks for an adjustment period from gas users, and while that's true of ceramic technology generally rather than a fault unique to this unit, it's still a genuine change in cooking habit that some buyers underestimate before switching. A couple of small, cosmetic niggles — the food-catching trim strip, and feet that don't always bridge larger height gaps — are minor but worth knowing about rather than discovering after installation.

Final Verdict

For the money, this is a genuinely well-specified double oven cooker rather than a cut-down compromise wearing a double-oven label. If your household regularly cooks for a crowd, bakes often, or has simply outgrown a single-cavity oven, the three-shelf fan main oven alone justifies the upgrade — it's the feature that will change your actual cooking routine, not just your spec sheet. Buyers moving across from gas hobs need to go in with realistic expectations about ceramic's heat lag, and anyone wanting a powerful, fast grill should treat that as a secondary function rather than the headline feature. Factor in the hardwiring requirement and electrician cost as part of your total spend, not an afterthought, and this cooker is a strong, confident recommendation for households that need real capacity without paying range-cooker prices to get it.

Performance will not disappoint you

I bought this cooker 3 weeks ago. I love it. Everything works really well. I only have electric cookers and this one supersedes any cooker I’ve ever had so far. The top oven is great for baking if people bake cakes or brownies etc. and the fan assisted main oven holds a lot of food and cooks with precision. I’ve not tried the grill yet as I use my toaster so I can’t review the grill at present but the instruction book does say to preheat the top oven before using the grill option so I’ll keep this in mind when I do need to use it. The hob works great. I would recommend this appliance to everyone who is considering a new electric cooker. You won’t be disappointed with the performance. The design looks great. This cooker is easy to use and the instruction book is easy to understand. It’s easy to clean with just a damp soft cloth. Very happy with my purchase.

An Excellent Oven

I wanted an upgrade to my old cooker and after researching many I came to buying the Hisense HDE3211BWUK 60cm double oven electric cooker in white. It has a ceramic hob which after a few days of use I am very satisfied with as it’s easy to clean and heats quickly. Having 2 separate cookers will make a difference and there are 3 wire racks and 1 grill tray with wire rack and handle. The bottom oven is fan assisted and the top oven has a separate grill. It looks really smart and I am very happy with my purchase.

Great cooker

Got this as a replacement cooker via insurance after my last broken. Unfortunately it happened to the run up Christmas so had issues with delivery. Thankfully got this sorted over the phone.
The cooker is better than expected. I do like the knobs as I have a small kitchen and kept switching my old cooker on when I walked past. The knobs on this are really sturdy so no accidental switch on and fast at heating up.

Nice cooker

I brought this 2 weeks ago and im generally pleased with it except that the 1st time I used it scratches appeared on the hob. There was nothing on the bottom of the pan i used to cause it. It marks very easily! The grill takes a bit of getting used to but apart from that its fine.

Great value

This is a really good cooker, especially for the price. Responsive controls and I have been really happy with everything cooked in it.
Even baked cakes to see how they turn out (fan assisted) and it was perfect.
Very happy.
