Kenwood FDP65.860WH MultiPro Express
KenwoodSunday meal prep has a way of eating up your whole afternoon before you've even started cooking. Chopping five different vegetables, kneading a loaf of bread, then blitzing a smoothie for the week ahead usually means dragging out three separate machines and washing up after each one. The Kenwood MultiPro Express FDP65.860WH exists to collapse all of that into a single base unit — bowl, blender and mill all click onto the same motor housing, and a stack of nine attachments handles everything from slicing carrots to whisking egg whites. The question worth answering before you spend £150 is whether that promise holds up once flour is on the counter and vegetables are piling up in the sink. Having put it through its paces on everything from weekday stir-fry veg to a full loaf of bread dough, here's where it earns its keep — and where it doesn't.
Design, Build Quality, and the Shared-Base System
The defining design decision here isn't a feature, it's an architecture choice: one motor base, three interchangeable heads. The 3-litre main processing bowl, the 1.5-litre blender, and the multi-mill for spices and small batches all lock onto the same drive unit. That single decision is what keeps a machine this capable from turning your worktop into an appliance graveyard — you're not choosing between a food processor, a blender and a spice grinder taking up three separate patches of counter space; you're choosing between three attachments and one footprint.
The trade-off is entirely cosmetic. This is a machine built to disappear into a cupboard between uses, not to sit out as a kitchen centrepiece. The white plastic housing is practical rather than photogenic, and once you factor in all nine attachments plus the accessory storage bag, you're looking at a reasonably deep drawer or a dedicated shelf to keep everything together. Several long-term owners specifically flag that the full attachment set needs more storage room than the compact base would suggest — worth knowing before you assume it'll slot into a small cupboard alongside your kettle and toaster.
Build quality itself feels appropriately sturdy for the price bracket. The blender jug and main bowl are both plastic rather than glass, which keeps the whole unit lighter to lift out of storage and less risky around a tiled floor, though it does mean you'll want to keep hot liquids to a gentle simmer rather than a rolling boil when blending soups. A safety interlock system prevents the motor from firing unless the bowl and lid are correctly seated — a small detail, but the kind of thing that matters when kids are in the kitchen or you're moving fast on a Sunday batch-cook session.
Motor Power and Everyday Performance
At 1000 watts, the motor sits comfortably in the mid-to-upper range for a domestic food processor, and it shows in the tasks that matter most: chopping onions, grating cheese in volume, and blitzing a blender jug of frozen fruit into a smoothie all happen quickly rather than requiring you to stand over the machine willing it along. Owners consistently single out the blender as the standout performer — fast, decisive, and capable of handling drinks and cold mixtures without labouring.
Where performance gets more nuanced is dicing and grating genuinely hard, dense vegetables. Feedback from people who've used the machine regularly points to real difficulty getting raw carrots and similarly tough produce through the dicing attachment cleanly — pieces can come out larger than expected or resist the disc altogether. Softer produce, cooked vegetables, and fruit fare much better. If your batch cooking leans heavily on raw root vegetables diced small, it's worth tempering expectations here or pre-cutting particularly hard items into smaller chunks before they go in.
The two-speed-plus-pulse control setup is deliberately simple rather than granular. You won't find a dial offering ten incremental speed settings; instead you get low, high, and pulse for short controlled bursts. For most home cooking this is genuinely enough — pulse handles the delicate jobs like not over-processing nuts into paste, while high speed powers through the heavier lifting. If you're coming from a machine with variable speed control and relied on fine-tuning, this will feel like a step down in flexibility, even if raw power is comparable or better.
Dough kneading deserves its own mention, because it's one of the more genuinely useful capabilities buried in the spec sheet. The kneading tool is rated to handle up to roughly 600g of flour per batch (around 1kg of total dough ingredients), run in bursts of up to 60 seconds with a recommended 15-minute rest between runs. In practice, that's plenty for a standard loaf of bread or a batch of pizza dough, and it does the job with none of the arm ache of hand-kneading. What it isn't built for is continuous industrial-scale baking — if you're planning to knead dough back-to-back for multiple loaves in one session, the cool-down windows will slow your rhythm, and this is not a substitute for a dedicated stand mixer if bread is a daily habit rather than a weekend project. The same caution applies to processing meat: the machine can chop it, but it isn't designed as a mincer and shouldn't be run continuously on dense proteins for much longer than a short burst, or the motor will start to strain.
Key Features, Explained in Real-World Terms
Express Serve
Express Serve is the feature Kenwood clearly built the marketing around, and it earns the attention. Instead of grating or slicing into the closed processor bowl and then having to remove the blade, tip the contents out, and wash the bowl before you can use it again, Express Serve routes sliced, grated or diced food straight out the side of the unit onto a plate, into a serving bowl, or directly into a pot. For anyone assembling a salad, plating grated cheese, or prepping vegetables straight into a frying pan, this genuinely removes a step and a dish from the process — it's less about doing something new and more about cutting out friction in something you already do every week.
Express Dice
Express Dice extends that same idea specifically to dicing, giving you evenly cut cubes without decanting anything mid-task — useful for soffritto bases, stir-fry veg, or salsa, with the caveat noted above about harder vegetables needing a little more patience.
The Multi-Mill
The multi-mill turns the same base into a spice grinder and small-batch processor, handling things like grinding whole spices, chopping nuts, or making breadcrumbs in quantities too small to justify dirtying the full-size bowl.
The 2-in-1 Baking Tool
The 2-in-1 baking tool consolidates whisking and kneading into a single attachment rather than two separate bits you'd otherwise need to swap between — useful when you're moving from whisking egg whites to kneading dough in the same baking session.
The Redesigned Knife Blade
The redesigned, micro-serrated knife blade is the one piece doing the most day-to-day work, and Kenwood's chopping performance benefits from it — cuts come out cleaner and more consistent than older blade designs typically manage, particularly on fibrous vegetables and herbs.
The Reversible Discs
The 2mm and 4mm dual-sided grating and slicing discs give you four cutting options from two physical pieces, covering everything from fine cheese grating to chunkier salad-ready slices.
Capacity: Built for Batch Cooking, Not Solo Portions
The 3-litre main bowl is sized for families and meal-preppers rather than single servings — it'll comfortably handle a week's worth of chopped vegetables or a full batch of coleslaw without needing to run multiple loads. The 1.5-litre blender jug covers smoothies, sauces, and soups at a size that suits two to four servings per run, and the multi-mill is intentionally small-batch, built for spices and quick jobs rather than volume. Together, the range covers most home batch-cooking scenarios without forcing you to run the same attachment repeatedly to hit the quantities you need.

Cleaning and Everyday Upkeep
Both the main bowl and the blender jug are dishwasher safe, which matters more than it might seem — food processors with fiddly hand-wash-only parts tend to get used less over time simply because cleanup feels like a chore. That said, a recurring theme in owner feedback is that food can work its way up into the blade mechanism during processing, making that specific area more fiddly to clean thoroughly by hand or even in the dishwasher. It's not a dealbreaker, but if you're processing anything wet or fibrous, expect to give the blade assembly a closer look after use rather than assuming a quick rinse gets everything.
Who This Food Processor Is Actually For
A strong fit if you:
- Batch-cook regularly and want family-sized capacity rather than a single-serving gadget
- Want to consolidate a food processor, blender and spice mill onto one base to save counter and storage space
- Bake bread occasionally and want a machine that can knead a standard loaf's worth of dough without hand effort
- Prioritise a plate-to-pan workflow and would genuinely use a direct-serve dicing and grating feature
- Are setting up a first kitchen and want broad capability without buying multiple separate small appliances
Less suited if you:
- Bake bread frequently and need continuous kneading capacity beyond occasional single loaves
- Regularly process very hard raw vegetables and need consistently clean dicing results every time
- Want a built-in citrus juicer — this configuration doesn't include one
- Mince meat as a regular part of your cooking, since the motor isn't built for extended heavy-protein processing
- Prioritise looks and want an appliance that doubles as a countertop centrepiece rather than living in a cupboard
How It Compares
Within Kenwood's own MultiPro range, the FDP65.860WH sits as a genuine mid-tier all-rounder — more capable than the brand's smaller Compact models, but without the built-in digital scales or heat-resistant blending jug that the higher-tier Weigh+ variants add for a higher price. That positioning is worth understanding before you buy, since it clarifies exactly what you're paying the extra cost over entry-level machines for.
| Kenwood MultiPro Express FDP65.860WH | Smaller Kenwood MultiPro processors | Kenwood MultiPro Weigh+ range | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Motor power | 1000W | Typically lower, around 800W | Comparable, around 1000W |
| Bowl capacity | 3L main bowl | Smaller, around 1.2L | Similar 3L-class capacity |
| Attachments included | 9, including blender, multi-mill, dicer | Fewer, core chopping/slicing only | Similar range plus built-in scales |
| Direct-to-plate serving | Yes, via Express Serve | Not typically included | Yes, usually included |
| Built-in weighing scale | No | No | Yes |
| Typical price position | Mid-range | Entry-level | Upper mid-range to premium |
The takeaway: if you specifically want integrated scales or a heat-resistant blending jug for hot soups, the Weigh+ tier is the logical step up. If you just want reliable everyday chopping without the extras this machine offers, Kenwood's smaller Compact-class processors save money by dropping the blender, mill, and dicing attachments. The FDP65.860WH earns its position squarely in the middle — most of the versatility, without paying for scales or heat-resistant glass you may never use.
Where It Shines, and Where It Falls Short
The honest picture that emerges after real use is one of a machine that's genuinely more useful day-to-day than its modest price suggests, precisely because the shared-base design removes so much of the friction that usually stops people from actually using a food processor regularly. The blender is fast, the chopping blade is consistently precise, the dough kneading capability is a legitimately unexpected bonus at this price point, and Express Serve does exactly what it promises by cutting a wash-up step out of everyday prep.
Set against that, the dicing performance on hard vegetables is the clearest weak point, and it's frequent enough in owner feedback to be a real consideration rather than a rare complaint — if precision dicing of raw, dense produce is central to how you cook, test your expectations against softer produce first. The two-speed control system, while sufficient for most tasks, will feel limiting to anyone used to finer speed adjustment on pricier machines. And while the shared-base concept genuinely saves counter space, the full nine-piece attachment collection asks for more storage room than the compact base implies, which is worth planning for rather than discovering after delivery.
The Verdict
The Kenwood MultiPro Express FDP65.860WH is a smart buy for anyone doing regular batch cooking who wants to replace a cluttered collection of separate small appliances with one base and a well-thought-out set of attachments. The blending and core chopping performance justify the price on their own, and the Express Serve system solves a genuine everyday annoyance rather than adding a gimmick.
Where it asks for realistic expectations is in dicing very hard vegetables and in sustained, heavy-duty bread baking — for occasional loaves and typical vegetable prep, it performs well; for daily industrial-scale kneading or precision work on raw root vegetables, you'll want to know its limits going in. For the batch-cooking home cook who values consolidation and everyday convenience over restaurant-grade precision on every single task, this is a confident recommendation.
What People Say
112 commentsProbably the worst Kenwood Food Processor
I bought this Kenwood Food Processor to replace an older one for which parts are difficult to get. I've had a number of Kenwood foor processors (and other Kenwood products) but this model was truly awful. I put it all together and found that the machine was badly designed. You really don't need that top part - way too fidly - and the 'stalk' that fits on the machine before you fit the main bowl flies off when you lift the bowl off. The goblets of the liquidiser and small chopper are moulded in a single piece so you can't get to the blades to clean them easily (with other models you can remove the base). There is no rasping blade or proper mill, so clearly, Kenwood don't want you to use the processor for grating hard vegetables (I freeze celery, then mill it to avoid 'strings' in recipes) or hard cheese. So the machine went back to Argos unused (hence I can't really comment on performance). I knew it wasn't for me. Kenwood makes some great products, but sadly this isn't one of them. I now intend to buy the much more expensive Kenwood food processor that looks far more robust, with a more traditional design and a better collection of accessories.
Graters are disappointing and leave large chunks
Graters are disappointing and leave large chunks
I really wanted to like this. It has a powerful motor, a decent-sized bowl, and lots of attachments, which looked promising on paper.
Unfortunately, the grating discs are a major letdown. Whether I’m using the 2mm or 4mm reversible grating/slicing disc, a surprising amount of vegetables (especially carrots, courgettes, and potatoes) end up passing through on the side without being properly grated. You get a mix of nicely grated bits and annoyingly large chunks or whole pieces that slip past the blades. It means I still have to go back and chop or grate the leftovers by hand, which defeats the purpose of using a food processor.
The Express Serve function is convenient in theory, but the inconsistent grating makes it frustrating in practice. Everything else (chopping, blending, etc.) works okay, but for a machine at this price point, the grating performance should be much more reliable.
If you mainly need a good grater for vegetables, I’d look elsewhere. Shame, because the rest of the unit feels solid.
All the accessories for a reasonable price
I had a Kenwood for many years so thought I would go for something different, however I still wanted a separate blender, and the Kenwood is really the only option. However the first purchase started making a very loud motor noise with three months and then the pulse button packed up. Spoke to Kenwood who weren't really interested and said they would repair if I sent it back! So returned it to no quibble Argos who were brilliant, vowing not to buy Kenwood again....but there's not really an option if you want a separate blender and a small foot print and other accessories... so I've bought another one. It was packaged much better, smelt new and works a treat. I think I had a returned item the first time, which was obviously faulty. Anyway - so far so good. It is really excellent for baking, chopping and grating.
Good kitchen workhorse
I needed a replacement for a previous Kenwood food processor so this fitted my requirements. It is not very heavy but this suits me as I am small. It has all the attachments the average kitchen would need. The main jug is a little stiff to get on and off the motor unit - it takes a bit of doing at first. I tried the dicing unit and ended up with beetroot cubes all over myself and the work surface - it does need a very wide bowl underneath the exit channel to prevent this. Softer vegetables are best - I couldn't make it work with sweet potato which is quite hard. I probably won't use this very often - but the machine is good value and will do all the necessary operations. Highly recommended.
Adequate
I have always used Kenwood food processors this being the third in my lifetime. Unfortunately it does not meet the standards of previous models. The bowl is slightly smaller which clearly impacts on it's functionality. Veg get stuck on the blade and results in uneven chopping resulting in slurry with massive chunks of onion etc. I don't tend to use attachments as previous processors always let me fulfill my needs with the blade. Seems a bit gimmicky and the multi mill container cracked after two uses. Kentwood quickly replaced it though. In summary it does its job if you pre chop veg into small pieces but that defeats the purpose. Not a winner for me I'm afraid.
Kenwood multipro food processor
Wowzers!!!
This food processor is fabulous!
Its lightweight, easy to clean & does pretty much EVERYTHING!!! I love to make marinades & the herb blender is fabulous for all your herbs & spices & a bit of liquid to create the perfect marinade. The blender makes fabulous smoothies. The food processor is HUGE, I’m only cooking for one. Plenty of room to dice or chop your favourite veg etc. I also LOVE the suction pads on bottom of base. That way it’s staying put!!!
Can’t recommend this enough!!! If your looking for multi function processor this is your go to!!!
Good except for baking prep
Good machine, nice and compact considering the number of functions feels of good quality and sturdy build. With the exception of one of its functions it performs very well especially for the price. It failed to impress when using the baking tools as ingredients just seemed to bunch, this was because the tools are too low in the mixing bowl - considering this i would highly recommend the machine if you want it for a general food processor but would not recommend it you want a machine that is good for prepping baking mixes
Fantastic all rounder machine.
Great piece of kit that has many attachments and fixings included. It doesn't include all possible attachments though and I'm not sure where to buy the extras such as juicer and the mill. I particularly love the slicer that funnels food straight into a bowl! Very handy. Machine is easy to use and seems sturdy so far! Lots of blades included which you can store in a bag which is a bonus for sure. Overall very happy and would highly recommend. It's replaced a lot of smaller gadgets I already had.
Best adult gadget ever
This multi purpose food processor has honestly been the most time saving, practical machine I have had. Reduction on cleaning is perfect. Easy to use. Instructions are definitely needed for the amount this machine can do. Very safe-children can be used undersupervision my children loved it. The 3 functions are great and there is a big difference between all. The machine itself is very sturdy and added products are all extremely functional and heavy plastic, I would say droppable and unbreakable
Kenwood Multipro Express
I’d been looking for a food processor for a while when this popped up on the Argos website. Great price, lots of functions. Makes dough super quick and we eat a lot of salads, it’s great for preparing those. The dicing function is really useful, direct to plate is quite amusing. It’s very fast, you need to be ready for that. I’m very pleased with my purchase, the blender is good and we’ve made guacamole and hummus with the mini chopper.
I would recommend this product as it’s such good value.
My perfect kitchen companion
It is a perfect kitchen companion, very easy to assemble & works perfectly fine for grating, slicing, dicing, & kneading with powerful 1000W motor & accessories. It includes 1.5L blender & compact grinder. Chopped, grated & sliced food direct to serving bowl with unique express serve system, grinded spice & made chips. With razor sharp blades results were perfect finish food. Cannot wait to use kneading & emulsifying tool for hassle free baking. Very easy to clean, full marks given by my wife.
Recommended with a Reservation.
I've shredded, diced, sliced, grated, whipped cream and mixed cake mix with it. The blender works fine, but it is possible to touch the blender blades with the machine running.
Using the dough tool the dough didn't form a ball, instead I just got a sticky mess. My second attempt was equally unsuccesful, this time I added the water gradually and used the knife instead of the dough tool. Both times dough found its way out of the bottom of the jug and potentially into the base unit.
So far, so good
If this piece of kit lasts as long as the kenwood food mixer i have (roughly 40 years old and still going) it will be a great buy. I have had this processor a couple of weeks and i have used it 4 times for slicing raw potato, grating cheese, making pastry and using the blender for soup. This machine does not mess about. It managed everything with no fuss and everything is very easy to clean. The delivery arrived when argos said it would unscathed and undamaged which is also a big plus.
Reliable Kenwood ****+
I was very surprised at the size of the box and worried where I would store it, but the product inside is amazing and easily stored. I made coleslaw, pizza dough, tomato sauce, chopped veg for soup and salads in seconds!!!it's so simple to use and looks stunning on the counter top. its powerful and easy to clean. (1000 Watts)
2 speeds and pulse function.
3L main bowl liquid working capacity.
1.5L blender capacity.
I Really like Baking Tool for Whisking and Kneading
Excellent processor , good size for family use.
I used the processor for the first time today. Thought it wasn't working until I realised that the bowl and lid have to be locked into place before it starts. Great sized bowl, holds a lot of ingredients. Can't wait to try out all the different attachments. Will save so much time using the processor instead of chopping, mixing, blending and grating by hand. Also it is lightweight enough to be put into and taken out of a cupboard instead of having to stay in the worktop.
Kenwood Multipro Express Food Processor
We have always wanted a food processor as we cook a variety of foods like soup, casseroles, home made chips and the list goes on. As soon as we opened it we made dough for bread, and then we made a smoothie. Both we great! It’s has two speeds and a small variety of cutting and blending tools. The only snag is, after watching the promotional video it doesn’t have half of the items listed and you need to purchase them yourself! But other than that, a great piece of kit!
Seemed good but broke after one use
Mechanically no issue but used the grating unit for onion (turned to mush) and cabbage (not uniform but fine for coleslaw. When washing the unit after this use I notice some of the plastic in the feeder tube had sheered off. I don't much fancy plastic in my food so returned.
Overall unit seemed like good value for money but it is very large so would only purchase if you're really going to use it alot.
Instructions were available but seemed quite confusing.
Excellent :-)
Really happy with the food processor, works really well, impressed with the different attachments and happy with the case that comes with it to store the blades. I have used all the functions and would recommend this to other, i'm really happy with my purchase. The only criticism i would have is that is doesn't come with the juicer attachment as shown in the video, this is an optional attachment but you can purchase this for around £6 on the kenwood website.
Makes pastry in no time
Bought to replace my ancient food processor as it was wearing out. Used so far to make my Christmas cake and pastry. Comes with loads of additional gadgets but I have not used them yet. Soup in the blender is next on the list. Comes with suckers underneath to hold it to the work surface to stop it slipping which is useful. Need quite a lot of cupboard space to store everything. Quite noisy but seems to do the job well. Overall happy with purchase.
The motor is failing after one month
I have used this properly every day for a month and now the motor has slowed and is not fit for purpose. I can no longer make smooth smoothies or chop vegetables properly. I am so disappointed, especially since Kenwood has told me I need to sort this out with Argos and Argos is unreachable. Argos please get in touch with me to sort this out - I have spent good money and am now without a tool needed to prepare my family’s meals.
