Panasonic is a name you can trust. I needed a wall phone with answer machine, a big phone book and caller display. This ticked all those boxes. My previous wall-mounted phone was never stable on the wall, despite re-drilling holes etc. Also, there was a ridiculous rotating button/hook to place the handset onto. My previous phone, and several others I researched all had this stupid button which would keep falling off and throwing the phone handset to the floor. The Panasonic is a MUCH better design and the hook is part of the moulded plastic phone. It is also a well-balance machine so it doesn't rock when mounted on the wall. It's incredibly stable. This Panasonic phone base unit looks complicated at first but, once you're used to it, it's actually pretty straight-forward and has logically sequenced menu buttons. The display is backlit and clear. I love that you can have 3 speed dial buttons in addition to quick dial buttons behind the 1-9 buttons. I don't use the latter as I'd have to remember who was behind each button. I guess keeping a list by the phone would help with that. Whilst you can assign your contacts to groups, and a different ring tone to each group, this function only works on the portable handset. If only using the base unit, like me, there is just one twinkly ring tone, which isn't my preferred ring tone, as I just want a traditional ring-ring tone. However, the set ringtone in very loud. I hear this phone, which is downstairs, louder upstairs that my upstairs phone! My only gripe with this phone is that its multi-functions, which are really varied, mostly only work on the portable handset and not on the base unit. In particular, the buttons for graphic equaliser and clear voice, which aid those with hearing difficulties, aren't on the base unit. The base unit only has volume controls for use whilst on a call. The instructions are clear and have icons to distinguish between features on the base unit and on the portable unit. I do have a problem with a low, quiet hissing/white noise, but this may be due to proximity to my bay window and radio controlled clock (or maybe a very old .ADSL filter). The instructions tell you to avoid such areas and to install a ADSL filter if you have broadband on that phone line. The people I call don't hear this hiss, so I think it's due to the location of my phone. In all, a superb phone, does what it says on the tin and it seems robust, sturdy and durable. It was great value for money and has more features than similarly priced phones. I would buy this again for sure.
Not a Great Phone Package
Brought this after reading reviews of the Product on the Argos website. The main phone only had a short cable to the socket so had to use another to set it up. The main phone is not supplied with any batteries which you have to have to enable the phone to work.
Why did Panasonic not supply such when they supply them for the portable phone.
We set up the main phone with long life batteries and all seemed well until the next morning when we found neither phone working because the Main phone back up batteries were apparently flat. We purchased rechargeable batteries for the main phone again it seemed to work until the next morning the phones were not working again. So we returned the Product to Argos and got a refund. The screen on the Main phone and the portable one are not clear and the phone is not easy to set up numbers as far as we were concerned. Glad we took it back.
Great product - even better than we'd hoped!
We bought this answer machine for my Mum as we wanted her to be able to see who was calling. It has a lovely big screen so it's easy to see the phone numbers, but it also has an option to literally shout the number/name out. So my Mum can now stay in her chair and wait for the phone to shout out who's calling and she can decide whether to answer it. And because it can be set to ring 9 times before going to answer machine, she has plenty of time to get to the phone. If there is a message, there's a really obvious flashing light, and the 'erase' button is clearly marked. Absolutely ideal for what my Mum wanted and, quite frankly, even better than we'd hoped. Perfect!
Unclear specifications pre-purchase
Bought this for the look and mid-price range although I did not want the hand-set. The specifications were not clear enough for me and assumed the "combo" referred to the corded-phone AND the hand-set so I purchased it intending to "bin" the hand-set. Discovered I cannot use the corded-phone without connecting the hand-set to it which, in addition to the phone-jack connection, required an additional connection to a main power point on the opposite side of the room/phone-jack. Needless to say, the whole phone followed the hand-set into the bin the following day unused, so I am unable to comment on the actual quality of the product.

I needed to get a landline phone that was easy to use with a cordless 2nd handset. Had no idea if there was such a thing then I found this fantastic phone set!
It’s VERY easy to use and it even tells you who is calling by speaking the name or number!
The only downside was the length of the coiled handset wire which was easily remedied by buying a longer cord.
I’m really really happy with my purchase which gives me the best of both worlds - a corded phone in case of power cuts and a cordless phone for when needed. I would give it a “10” if possible
The perfect landline phone?
It has a corded handset so you can't lose it. It has battery back up so that the main handset still works even when the power is out. Plus it has a cordless handset. For households where you need to certainty of connectivity plus the flexibility of having a cordless handset it is the best of all worlds. I'm might buy a second one for elderly relatives as you'll be more certain of ringing emergency services in case of emergency. The fact that it also speaks the caller ID, has answer phone and call blocking....what's not to like.
Once set up it is perfect
This was a purchase for a sick relative. I managed to set up the basics but had to go onto the web page to find out how to get rid of the voice that was telling us the number of each phone call. This feature will be good for someone with impaired sight. This was my only grumble, that the instructions for someone verging on 70 were not clear enough. When you view the full instructions on line, it all becomes clear.
I have an earlier version of the phone and the updates are a great improvement.
Excellent Telephone Unit & Handset
I bought this to replace an old Panasonic telephone that I used for 14 years. I decided to purchase this unit for my study and for the fact you get an extra walkabout handset too, the intercom function is excellent, so my Fiancé can call me when I am in my workshop and visa versa. Very easy to set up, walkabout even has a belt clip, great call block feature. When the telephone rings it even speaks the callers name and number before you answer. Great design, very smart and excellent quality.
Great product simple to use
Great product and a rarity in the market, having a corded base and a cordless option too, which is what I wanted so as not to fry my brain on long phone calls by using the corded base. Big buttons, clear screen icons and I've found it easy to set up and use. The ring is loud, sound quality is good. It tells you who is calling by reading out the number or the name if you've put it into the phone. Pronunciation of names isn't great, but at least you know it's someone you'd answer the phone to!!
Very advanced
A very cool couple of units, with one button call-blocking, including with held numbers .It actually disconnects unwanted callers rather than sending them to the answering machine. A really neat thing is you can enter a number which you are at, including mobiles, while away; leave the unit's answer machine on. The phone will call you on the number you entered and tell you that a message was left. , The Panasonic will play the message back to you.
All together, there isn't much to criticise
A smart handset but with a short wire
This replaced a 20-year old phone and has proved a good modernizing choice. The build is good but the main handset itself surprisingly small, but at least this makes it light to hold. Sometimes it doesn't naturally engage back onto the base unit when hanging up, but this is a minor quibble. I would have preferred a longer wire as my phone socket is some distance away, but it was (just) long enough. The screen is clear and from box to use was very quick. The serial number is printed small.
I found it quite difficult to set up
the instruction book is comprehensive, but quite difficult to follow. I've still not got to understand all the features the phone can allegedly perform. The the base station screen is large and easy to view though the characters are a 'bit old style matrix' type. I would have liked different ringtones which which it doesn't seem to have. However, it does 'speak' out quite loudly the caller's name if in the phone's book. The rechargeable battery back up for the base station is a useful

I like the fact that most of what you do to one of the phones automatically transfers to the other phone. I still set aside about 2 hours to read the detailed instruction booklet though, sitting with the phones, whilst setting up the various features,
I phoned myself from outside the house to try out the answering facility. The message did not record the first time. I pressed Erase all messages and tried again and it's worked since then. I'm not sure if that was just a glitch for me.
The best phone by far
I love the way when someone calls it rings then announces the number or name of the caller then rings again and keeps doing it until you answer. So you can sit in the other room and decide if you can be bothered to get up and answer it. The volume on the hands free is very loud so a bonus to the hard of hearing. The screen is easy to see. A brilliant phone, only used the base phone still time to find out what the uncorded phone can do. Thank you for such a good design
Good phone once got long enough cables
The phone handsets are good, no problem there, however it comes with very short cables, both from the phone to the BT box and for the adapter. My old BT cable didn't work with this new phone, it said check line signal. I bought a new one, which also didn't work, leaving me with no choice but to use the very short cable that came with it. The adapter for the handset also very short, I had to buy an extension lead. It took over a week to get it working.
Good design and easy to use cordless phone.
This is an unusual design of cordless phone in that the base station includes a normal corded phone.
Easy to set up and use and gave me the facilities I needed which were a new phone with a second cordless phone which can be used anywhere in the house or garden. Only had it for a couple of weeks so not yet had chance to test all the features but had no problems using the features that I have needed. It is a Which Best Buy so must be good!
Not as expected
Bought this to replace binatone corded and cordless model which allowed ring tones to be assigned to phobebook nos and default ring tone to remain for non phonebook nos on both corded and cordless handset, this panasonic only allows ringtone to be assigned on cordless handset but even then doesnt keep default ring for non phonebook nos so no way to determine if call is one I want to answer or leave to go to answering machine
Exceeded all expectations!
We needed to replace an absolute dinosaur of a wall-mounted telephone/answering machine and really struggled to find something we could wall-mount! This fit the bill ... with bells on!! Totally thrilled with every aspect of it. It looks good, sounds good and does absolutely everything we wanted, and more. Particularly enjoyed the 'call blocker' button and using it on those really annoying nuisance call centre calls!
Nice looking phone combo; good price
This was purchased for an aged, hard of hearing, relative. The corded phone has proved really good, much louder than the phone it replaced and, once set up, is reasonably easy to use. The separate hand set has not been quite so successful mainly due to the volume which is not so loud and had to be tuned up each time. If not hard of hearing it would be fine. That you can add additional handsets could be very useful.
The Combo telephones look & have the feel of quali
The whole click & collect experience / service at the Plymouth, Transit Way Store exellent. From the pleasant Lady at the door to the distancing procedure during the short wait for my purchase, made me feel very comfortable and safe during this Covid 19 times.
I am well pleased with the Panasonic Combo Telephones. Easy to set up and with exellent features. Well worth the price paid. Would definately recomend.
