This machine emits a cool mist. I would compare it to the mist that comes out when you open your freezer, only not as cold. It cannot be left at the ready for switching on when needed due to the strict safety guidelines around plugging in, emptying when not in use and disinfecting every few days. This however, is to be expected with this kind of product and I am sure all similar products will have the same guidelines. I’ve been using it near my bed overnight and set it up and turn it on about an hour before bedtime. My humidity monitor shows a rise in humidity levels but still within the recommended percentage. It has a quiet breeze like sound with the occasional glug of water when the lower reservoir tops up. I have no trouble sleeping with these sounds even though it is less than a metre from the head of my bed. I have not tried the menthol sachets that came with it yet.

I like this little machine! It is lightweight, compact, looks good and easy to clean, although some reviews suggest to think as it is hard to clean but I think it is alright if you get used to it - but it is water and needs to be cleaned regularly so do follow cleaning instructions. It definitely helps to moisten your room if heater or radiator is on and your nose or mouth doesn’t feel dry while you are sleeping.
I got it specifically for my toddler to help her better sleep when she gets cold and her nose is blocked, have used it for about a month and seems it helps her! The Vapor pads quite costly and we used 3 packs very fast so I’m using now just one Vapor pad instead of two and it does the job.

I bought this as I have been suffering with sinusitis. It's very simple to use and did not leak like other reviews have mentioned. I like the vix tablets that come with it.
I am a super light sleeper and was concerned about the beeping noise that people mention in other reviews, upon reading the instructions it tells you how to turn the beeping off ;-)
This did not help much for my sinusitis but I would say it could probably help for a common cold.
Be careful on how high you turn the dial as I did wake up to condensation on my windows and the walls felt wet - wouldn't recommend to be used all the time as could cause damp issues perhaps
Great buy - helped baby’s congestion
I bought this humidifier in the hope it would help my baby’s congestion during a particularly bad cold.It’s a great size and works very quietly (basically inaudible except for the occasional quiet gurgle as the tank replenishes the reservoir - it sits next to baby’s cot and doesn’t disturb him). Whilst I can’t say for *certain* it’s helped, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my little one has slept through the night since purchasing, despite him still being full of snot! I’m also unwell and notice the air feels much easier in the nursery now. I would 100% recommend trying, if in doubt! A small price to pay for the potential benefit!
Great humidifier.
Been using everyday since purchase last week, works well as a cool mist humidifier. Really like how quiet the unit is, barely noticeable when tv on. I run mine using filtered tap water, this helps keep contaminants down thus less cleaning needed. One tank of water lasts me all day when running on half power setting. Bottom of unit needs emptying daily so be prepared to unplug it and take to a sink. Only annoying feature is the auto clean button lights up every time you switch it off and back on, not every three days as advertised, but this is easily fixed by pressing the button to reset it.
Love it more than I expected to
Bought this when my little girl had a chest infection after reading reviews that a humidifier can help. The first night she went from waking herself up every 10 minutes to just waking up 3 times, it definitely alleviated her symptoms. She’s only 5 months old so is in my bedroom and I noticed that I slept more comfortably with the humidifier on.. I’ve been and bought a second one for my sons room and will buy a third when my daughter goes into her bedroom!
I did buy the refills that are suitable for babies but we didn’t get along with them, but without the refills I love my humidifier

We bought this to assist with family members' dry skin, and it definetly makes a difference to the room. it's quiet although there is an ongoing quiet beep, say 5 seconds apart, though it doesn't bother my daughter. it does look rather 'medical' in design rather than aesthetic, however filling up is easy and the reservoir holds enough for 12 hours or so. You can get more aesthetic ones but not sure how much water they hold. have not tried the vapour sachets, two of which were supplied. overall seems well made and have been using it constantly for a few weeks now.
Good humidifier
It’s a great product and very powerful for its size, an hour at full power will make half your house resemble a scene out of the Fog but the major limitation is simply not being able to add your own oils and I only got al1 Vicks pad in the box which I heard can vary from 0 to half a dozen depending on your luck of the draw (quality control?) which also isn’t great if you don’t really like the Vicks smell. The biggest drawback though is the long winded cleaning process, it recommends doing it every 3 days but I think I’ll take my chances and do it weekly instead.
Good humidifier but very hard to empty and clean
I bought this about half a year ago. Using in children's bedroom as the flat is very dry. It works well as a humidifier and really helps with breathing and not having a dry mouth in the morning. You can adjust the amount of mist and direction. I would have given it 5 starts but it is impossible to empty it completely and very very difficult to fully dry inside. The bit which directs the mist often gets mouldy and needs to be cleaned with bleach. I am not a big fan of using chemicals and this is a big downside for me.
Great for the money
Good little machine, works well. Water lasts all night. Too early to tell whether this is helping me breath. Just a little tip - when you turn it on for the 1st time or need to switch it off to refill, the illuminated light will stay on and you will hear an intermittent beep. This is just a reminder to clean it every 3 days. To turn this off just gently touch the illuminated light symbol and it will go off. Hope this helps. Had this in the sale plus I haven't used the vicks pads as yet, just tap water.
Worked well for a cold
I bought this for my newborn with a cold. It helped her breathe easier during the night. I couldn't use the vapour pods as she's too young but the cool mist worked well, we have a large 18 metre square room and this still worked despite being over the recommended size.
Buying from Argos was really expensive in comparison to other stores at the time. However we needed it the same day and couldn't wait for delivery so had to pay the expensive price.
It's a little bit noisy but didn't bother us.
Worked a treat!
My little boy had a chest infection and had almost zero sleep for the first two nights. On the third night I'd bought this and he actually managed to sleep a few hours. I used it every night whilst he was poorly and it was great. The water lasts all night without needing refilling. Only issue I have is that the water department doesn't seem to click into place, just sits on the top of the base. Not sure if that's a design issue or if ours is slightly faulty. Either way, it works and I love it.

I bought this about a month ago and it’s done exactly what I’d hoped. Looked at other humidifiers on Amazon but they looked cheap and reviews were a bit rough. I’m really happy that I decided to go with this one.
Definitely recommended cleaning it every 3 days though, I use it constantly pretty much 24/7 to increase humidity for my plant collection so it really does need to be cleaned regularly otherwise you’ll get bacterial growth and a foul smell. Good news is it’s easily cleaned.

Brought this for my babie had he sounded stuffy when he went to bed. After a few days he was less stuffed. Main reason I would recommend this is because it works well. When using it for myself when I sleep, it works a treat. I wake up feeling less congested. The only bad review that I would give it and it maybe the way I was using it but when turned up all the way or left on for a long time, it would make the room cold. Also it makes a beep but after a day it sounds like white noise.

Bought this for my daughter who has been tortured with a cough from starting school especially at night, this settled the coughing the first night! Really useful that this has different settings for how much humidity you want in room, I put it on high about an hour then turn it down, tank lasts two nights this way. Windows have similar moisture on them that they normally have on winter mornings this way, if I leave it on high the windows are significantly wetter.
Helps my toddler’s coughing
I bought this to try and help my 1 year old son’s cough at night. The scented pads are great although quite expensive in my opinion for the use you get from each one, but the lavender ones are lovely for bedtime. The humidifier is easy to use and the tank capacity is excellent. It does seem to have significantly helped his cough and I know that they use the same one at his nursery as it works well. Overall we’re really pleased and would recommend this to others.
Great item for comfortable sleep
My first throat infection for five years gave me a shocking cough, disturbing my sleep. Using this device in the bedroom meant I could sleep through the night and cough less. I found it easy to use and it was quiet in operation. I had presumed that because the central heating is off, my home would not have dry air. This humidifier made my nostrils, throat and eyes all more comfortable. Cleaning instructions are clear and easy to follow. A bit thumbs up from me.
Cleared a blocked nose a treat
After having a blocked nose for weeks I invested in this humidifier, I popped in just one Vicks vapo pad and felt much more comfortable in no time at all. I now use it without a pad next to the bed and it eases my dry throat whilst I sleep.
For what it is I think it’s a bit expensive as are the vapo pads so I have dropped one star for that.
It’s a bit more bulky than I expected but I accept that smaller ones are available so that’s down to my choice,

I bought this last month when our young toddler was suffering a really heavy cold. This machine helped her through the nigjt and allowed her to be much more comfortable. The use of little vapour pads is not overwhelming anf you can chose whether to use 1 or 2 of them if you need an extra boost. We used it on the lowest setting as her bedroom is rather small and it was really efficient. Its discrete at night so doesn't wake her and is very easy to use.
