This is the second one of these, which I bought. This time as a present for a relative. Got the first one in November 2024 and was very impressed with it over the last nearly 1 year of use. The battery lasts forever. I use it with the volume not too loud and often find I've used it for 10 hours, with the battery only dropping to ~70%. I presume, when they stated 16 hours in the specification, this must have been with the volume quite loud. Sound quality is great for a small speaker like this, when playing music. I mostly use it to listen to videos and news on YouTube and for speech the sound is a little too bassy, but still very reasonable. Connecting (and reconnecting) the Bluetooth is very quick - takes 2 to 3 seconds after I swith it on and it's already connected to my mobile. There is one thing to note about the colour - it is not black as the description says. It is very dark grey.

Smaller than expected but a very pleasant sound.
Nice size with a nice overall sound, sturdy and robust where you hope it would take the odd knock or two. It paired up almost instantly when turned on but we struggled to pair it to my partners phone, maybe they only pair with one connection.
Things improved when we bought the second one the day after, they link via Bluetooth to form a stereo speaker set. The sound was excellent with a good wide sound stage that was in time with each other, no delays where event.
This also means we can have one in the kitchen and one in the garden when having family around fur a bbq etc.
Battery appears a good thing with well enough power on tap for what we need them for.
They will not have the bar bouncing with bass but it was a nice overall balanced sound, rather that an overly bass heavy one. Sounded good to us.

Excellent sound for the size and good battery life
I wanted this just to have in the kitchen or move around to play some music whilst busy cooking or working and I've not been disappointed at all. The sound is clear and loud and fills a small room nicely, design and looks are good, easy to use and pair with devices.
The bass is quite powerful so it does need to be placed level on a sturdy surface to avoid the bass rattling the speaker or nearby objects but it also worked quite well hung from the handle with less bass.
Would highly recommend at this price point as a small portable occasional use speaker for small rooms.
Sony speaker disappointment
Argos website was easy to use and they delivered the mini speaker very quickly. This was purchased to replace my previous one which lasted years and had excellent sound quality. The new speaker is rubbish though! Even on very low volume the bass sound distorts and sounds horrific. Very disappointed and sadly can’t return it as I threw out packaging before checking it (I was certain it would be as fab as the old one I had).
Does the job.
I used a water-resistant speaker daily during my shower and getting dressed etc. My old cheap shower speaker was looking a bit tired so an upgrade seemed appropriate (and I had Nectar points!). This speaker seems perfect. It won't fill a large room, but gives decent quality sound for a bathroom or bedroom. Easy to link to tablet. Looks good too! The Sony brand also tends to give confidence.

I bought this portable bluetooth speaker because I needed something small to use when traveling and it exceeded my expectations. Although the Sony XB100 is a small speaker, it has strong bass and clear sound and the battery life is good. The bluetooth connectivity to various electronic devices is very stable. The only downside to this portable speaker is the Sony app which is quite limited.

Bought this for holidays and light camping trips. Great little speaker with great sound for its size and definitely loud enough.Easy set up. Battery life is is as good as it says with full charge. Charging cable is quite short but no real problem. I would definitely recthis to friends or family.

Perfect little speaker
Bought this as a replacement for SRS12 which was not charging well due to the USB connection playing up. Definitely an improvement on my old speaker.
Sound quality much improved. Very clear without too much bass. Delighted.

The sound is genuinely impressive for its size. Crystal clear and quite a bit louder than I thought it would be. If you hold it you can even feel the bass it’s pumping out. The battery lasts forever as well. Highly recommended if you're after a portable speaker.

Recent purchase and to date works well. sound quality is reasonable for a speaker of its size, tried it with a range of music genres and found it satisfactory. Volume could be a little higher Overall quite a reasonable product for the price.

Get what you pay for
Bought this for general use around the house and garden. It’s a good size and easy to handle, but unfortunately, it's not loud enough for my needs. I ended up returning it and spending a bit more on a better model.
Great little speaker
We have now bought 3 of these little speakers. They are a very robust design and produce a good sound. We often use it outside in the garden and find the strap a useful addition to hang it from a branch or hook.

Good quality material and amazing battery, good sound for close proximity not ideal for listening to further than 5-10 meters away, but overall great product for having at work or just for a bbq in the garden.
Really good sound
For the size and price, this gives an excellent sound. We used it in the dining room (playing from Spotify) when we had friends round for dinner and are planning to use it in the garden during the summer.
