I just wanted some basic speakers for my desktop PC for occasional watching of video and Teams calls and these were recommended. I didn't think you could get such a good sound at this price, it is really clear, good depth and full range with the sub woofer as well, definitely recommend this on over the one without the sub.
The speakers are nice an small and sit on my desk without taking it much space, and when angled towards me, with the help of the 45 degree slant they send the sound direct to my ears which gives a nice stereo effect. The sub isn't floor rumbling at that size but definitely adds substance to the sound to make it much more pleasurable than without.
The wires are plenty long enough for any setup, just need a bit of planning and cable management to get them nice and neat and hidden but allow for a range of positions.
It uses the 3.5mm analogue audio jack which might seem old fashioned nowadays especially as it still needs a USB port for power, but this helps keep the cost down because there is a simple analogue amp without the need for a DAC so I can see why this has been done.
The USB power can come from any suitable USB 2 or 3 port on the PC or a charger and works great but I choose a USB port on the PC so that the speakers power down when I switch the PC off. USB 3 give more power and should be louder but for normal listening levels USB 2 gives enough power and I can't perceive a difference between the two so I've left it in a USB 2 port.
I doubt there is a better sound at this price point but obviously this is not like a high end audio system but is perfectly pleasant to listen to music and video for hours on end.
In terms of loudness, there is a switch for high gain which seems to give a slightly better sound output. When at full volume on the speaker, I only need about 15% volume on the PC for normal listening so there is plenty of range to turn it up louder when needed. Right at the top end the sound goes off as expected.
Decent Speakers for the Price
These speakers sound rather good, however there's a bit of fiddling involved.
The subwoofer is down-facing at first, however I found when it's placed vertically with the speaker portion facing me, the sound comes out way less washed out. In the default state I felt as though there was a lackluster bass.
The bass is okay, however without a separate knob for the subwoofer it comes across as 'just okay'. Bass is heard and felt at higher volumes, however without manual adjustment it's just about okay and nothing too special.
Overall these speakers don't sound too bad. I can hear things clearly, and it handles stereoscopic sounds rather well. I haven't noticed any distortion that wasn't a result of the audio file used, and whilst the bass doesn't pack a very strong punch, it's acceptable and doesn't feel like I'm entirely losing out on the bass with much of the music I play.
During gaming the speakers have been very clear in allowing me to listen to enemy footsteps/movements in Call of Duty.
For the price, I would definitely recommend these speakers. They don't take up much space, and are more than acceptable for general PC applications. I personally have gotten used to them already, and don't feel the need for an upgrade despite my pickiness.
Nice speakers. Cheap enough and do the job
Dont expect massive volume out of these as not the most high powered things.
Fine for what they are. Nice sound. Sub woofer ok but not separate controls to main speakers level to that Bass Sub woofer. Did on the old ones. Control balance between the different things.
After 19 years the old original mains powered speakers died. Moved from computer to computer over the years.
Electronics (main capacitors) on the board died. Tried to mend and it did not last.
So then see what was going in Argos and went for these.
As good or last 19 years, doubt it but where cheaper and that 19 years on!.
For the price are nice. Needs a USB supply. I gone for a 2.1A old phone charger. Did not want it coming from the computer as properly makers had in mind.
Just needs a 5v USB supply.
Everything of mine goes off in 1 hit from a big 6 way extension lead to wall socket anyway.
Nice for the price. Not high power or really meaty sub woofer. Ok for most. Me just do a bit of video editing and web sites. No need for more.
I found a multiple frequency slider setting on the sounds settings in Windows OS. Bumbed up the lower frequencies a bit. Tweeked things to suit the speakers response.
Got the balance between the speakers and sub woofer nicer.

Great budget speakers
Brought this to use with my gaming monitor and it does the job well. Plugged straight into the PS5 console (USB for power) and the 3.5mm jack into the controller, and it worked right away without any hassle. Setup was smooth and straightforward.

Amazing quality sound i use a arc audio extractor box as my TV doesn't have a aux port but has hdmi arc.
For the price this is really good don't think can get any better :)
The volume goes quite loud but not deafining loud don't expect it to go as loud as bigger speakers I say volume would rate as 70 out of 100 when on full blast.
The subwoofer is amazing bass on it really good 👍

Pretty good budget speakers
For the general user, they're quite good. Realistically, you won't find many brand name 2.1 speakers within this price range. Superior to any in-built speakers on monitors or laptops. Sound quality isn't fantastic but for watching TV and movies most would find it sufficient. I do hear some buzzing/interference when playing a heavy game but there could be other reasons for that. Volume levels are good, but the bass is too heavy even on low gain, probably to hide some of the sound quality issues. I love that they run on USB power and don't need a plug.
Great small set of desktop speakers
Great set of small speakers, perfect for when space is limited or budget is tight. They look fantastic, and have a really nice material finish to them.
Don't expect outstanding sound quality or volume, as it's only powered by a USB cable that can go directly into a desktop or laptop (make sure your USB port can deliver power, they're not all the same!). Alternatively, you could plug into a USB power adapter into the wall. Sound is delivered via a standard 3.5mm jack cable, and could go to the front or back of a desktop, or into the side of a laptop.
You can't complain for the price.
Very good audio. I needed something for general listening on my pc when I'm not using my headset and I was pleasantly surprised with the spacial sound and they have a nice bass to them not too much but makes them very good for music at reasonably loud volume. I had an expensive sound bar and wireless sub and when I moved I was just using my pc and no TV. The sound bar took up too much space and I opted for these speakers and even as a somewhat audio person these are perfectly acceptable for the price. You can't expect more really.

Searched for "pc speakers" & there were cheap options on a certain app that had cheap reviews. Came across these & Argos had the best price with fairly easy collection (not from a standalone store despite having 2 nearby). Went for the "base box" version and glad I did as the depth of sound is great. Somehow they project voices so seems as if you're speaking directly with someone on Zoom etc. Not usually compelled to write reviews but these are worthy of it and now my team have a set each too.

It’s hard to believe these speakers are so cheap as they have such amazing sound quality. I was skeptical going into getting these but I do not regret them at all! The subwoofer is great as well, definitely recommend having it with this if you like more bass in your music, which is why I opted for this one. It was so easy to set up, the wires are long enough if you just want your speakers close to your tower and there aren’t too many of them. They look sleek, sound great, I can’t fault them!
Good speakers for the price, some crackling.
A set of good sounding, good quality speakers for the price. The subwoofer adds a nice bass tone and I keep mine in the high output mode as I find it produces a much clearer sound.
Only negative is some crackling with some higher notes, specifically piano or similar sounds. It doesn't affect the majority of songs otherwise.
It has plenty of volume, it is able to fill my entire flat with music. More than enough for the average user.
I would definitely recommend for a lower budget system.
Cheap quality on budget price.
The Creative was a good brand, that's why I choose this speakers. Out of the box looks nice. Tiny subwoofer and speakers. Cables are very bad, can not disconect them and not too long rigid cables Two cables connect to the PC?? USB for the power and an old style audio jack. Can't use only the USB :( Poor sound quality No Bass at all. Volume not clear on higher settings. Better then the laptop speakers but Not recommend to buy it. Spend a bit more and buy a different brand
Great speakers
Bought a few weeks ago and really happy with them. I got a new desktop and needed some speakers to listen to music while working etc and been very impressed with them. The bass is surprisingly good. Was worried the cables might be too short but they’re long enough to pop the subwoofer on the floor and have each speaker on each side of the monitor. Looks nice as well. Honestly very impressed and would highly recommend for anyone looking for good quality speakers for a low price
Great PC Speakers
Found these on Argos website after having problems getting some more expensive Logitech speakers. Boy, am I glad I did. They saved me a bunch of money, but the quality is right up there. Audio cable was a bit short to connect with my PC case but picked up an audio extension for a few quid and it was fine. They would be perfect for connecting to a laptop. Two funky globe satellites and a robust sub-woofer add up to a tremendous package for the price. Excellent value.
Great set of speakers for the money
Decent set of speakers for the money. Might not satisfy an audiophile, but having recently set up a home-office, I wanted something better than my laptop's built-in speakers, and these certainly fit the bill. Very easy to setup: right-hand speaker has a mechanical on/off-volume control and leads to the left-hand speaker (fixed); the sub-woofer (detachable if you don't want to use it) and two leads to the PC (USB for power; 3.5mm plug for audio).
Good sound but no Sub Volume button
Unfortunately i took mine back to Argos as although it sounds quite good the sub has no independent volume control so some tracks sounds really bass heavy , which drowns out the midrange and treble. The sub covers a bit of the midrange frequencies so it can sound really loud and boxy which is a sure way to have the neighbours complaining.
I know these are budget speakers but this is an essential feature that is missing in my opinion.
Very nice upgrade to an already great set!
I had previous pebble speakers which I already thought were great value for money with their sound, their look and how easy they fit on the corners of my gaming desk. At a similar price tag but with an added subwoofer and an improvement in quality. I got these to go with my PC upgrade, not disappointed. Still great design, very compact subwoofer and nice overall not skewing too far away from the original which I already really liked.
Decent Speaker System. Easy Plug and Play.
2 decent satellite speakers with a subwoofer. Sound is good. Fairly basic operation (on-off and volume are all controlled with one switch), and no independent settings for the subwoofer volume, which can be a bit overpowering at higher levels. The subwoofer can be disconnected if required, as the satellite speakers take power via USB direct from the PC, which then feeds the subwoofer. Nice design, and simple plug-and-play to set up.

Bought these when I replaced my tv for a 4K monitor (which didn’t have any inbuilt speakers). Did some research before buying and everyone said that you can’t do better for the price with these. The sound quality is great and the subwoofer packs a punch. They won’t blow the roof off and the controls are basic but they are more than enough for watching movies, listening to music and gaming. Plus they look incredibly stylish too

The audio lead is a bit too short if your PC is on the left, since it is attached to the RH speaker. Initially there was a bit of background buzz being picked up from the monitor, but boosting the PC volume to 90% and turning down the speaker knob eliminated this (a clip-on suppressor on the audio lead might also fix this).
Apart from that, plenty loud enough for a desktop PC and audio quality is great considering the price.
